Review: "Creepozoid"

In the not-too-distant future (from the past), in a time of violent war, five deserters have run away from their post in search of safety and semi-solitude. That didn't work.
After a nuclear apocalypse created during (I'm assuming) World War 3, Blanca, Butch, Jesse, Jake, and Kate have deserted their post in an armed service (it's not really specified) and are in search of a place to lay low for the next... however long it takes. They happen upon a seemingly deserted base that looks to be the location of some sort of science/research lab. Thinking they have found a new safe place, they lock themselves in and look to settle down for as long as needed.
The group sets off around the facility, trying to look for food, beds, and possibly a shower. Eventually, they begin to settle in while trying to bring the systems all back online. The group does find food, beds, a shower, and something else that now unknowingly hunts them.

This is another one of those films that you have to know what you are getting into before you even get into it. The cast is literally 5 people, not including whoever is in the rubber suit and the random scientist killed in the opening. One of them is scream queen Linnea Quigley, and another sort of scream queen is an actual adult film star. No one is watching this for the quality of the picture. In other words, this is the perfect movie for me. I love a film where I don't need to keep track of 1000 on-screen characters and their interactions, relationships, and such.
As far as a cheesy horror movie from the 80s, yeah... It's the epitome of all things 80s. I can totally see a censored version of this being on USA Up All Night. Creepozoids is surprisingly NOT a Troma film, but it checks all the same boxes. It gets to the point, does what it needs to do, and then gets out. No muss, no fuss. I respect that.
Putting it up against other movies, apples to apples, this is maybe a middle-of-the-road movie on that scale. I wouldn't go out of my way to watch it, but for Halloween Party Fodder that's just playing on a TV in the background, it's perfect.
